Ruud van Nistelrooy could lead Hamburg. The Bundesliga 2 club is considering appointing its former striker as head coach following the sacking of Steffen Baumgart, reports Florian Plettenberg.
The appointment of the Dutchman was considered even before the arrival of Baumgart.
Van Nistelrooy served as interim head coach of the Manchester United team following the sacking of Erik ten Hag. He left the club in November. Under his leadership, the Mancunians played 4 matches, winning 3 and drawing once.
Hamburg are in 8th place in the 2nd Bundesliga with 20 points from 13 matches.
Van Nistelrooy played for the German club from 2010 to 2011.
