The organizer of a human trafficking conspiracy who promised illegal migrants contracts with professional clubs was detained in Spain.

In Spain, a criminal trafficked people, promising contracts with football clubs. According to Marca, the Spanish National Police detained in Guadalajara the organizer of a criminal conspiracy to attract illegal migrants from South America. The arrest came as part of an operation that began back in 2023, when police received several complaints from young people of South American origin.
The perpetrator is said to have persuaded young people to come to Spain by misleading them with promises of employment with professional football clubs. In addition, the victims were promised legalization in Spain and a job if they did not succeed in football. The victims paid between 2, 000 and 3, 500 euros to cover living expenses, registration and paperwork. In Spain, migrants were kept in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions without fulfilling promises regarding work and legalization.
The investigation revealed that the detainee was involved in similar acts in 2019 and 2022 in three different provinces of Spain. He is charged with crimes against labor rights, illegal human trafficking and illegal migration.
The police are currently looking for the detainee`s accomplices, whose whereabouts remain unknown. The victims received appropriate assistance, the police informed them about the possibility of receiving assistance from the state and streamlining their administrative status.
